MLB: Power Ranking the Top 10 Teams (July 6) Stuck
Posted on July 6, 2012 at 01:39 AM.

This has been one of the most unpredictable baseball seasons in recent memory.

Sure, in the American League we see the Yankees, White Sox, and Rangers leading their divisions. The Sox can be considered a surprise, but the real chaos is in the National League.

Raise your hand if you had Washington, Pittsburgh, and the Dodgers in first place at the halfway point of the season.

Anybody?

Plenty of shake-ups with this week's rankings. Please feel free to leave your top 10 in the comments section.

Rankings are not based off of W-L records alone. Other factors include strength of schedule, recent injuries, and overall team statistics.

Please note: These rankings were compiled taking into consideration all games played through July 5.

1. New York Yankees (49-32, Last Week: 2)
Don't be surprised if the Yankees have a 10 game lead in the East by the middle of August.

2. Texas Rangers (50-33, Last Week: 1)
Four game losing streak drops the Rangers below the Yanks for this week.

3. Washington Nationals (48-32, Last Week: 3)
'Nats holding steady at the three spot. Now hold a 4 1/2 game lead in the NL East.

4. Los Angeles Angels (45-37, Last Week: 4)
Second half prediction: The Angels will have the best record in baseball between July and September.

5. Chicago White Sox (45-37, Last Week: NR)
Robin Ventura has his club playing inspired ball. Still believe the Central will come down to the Sox and Detroit.

6. Los Angeles Dodgers (47-37, Last Week: 9)
Ethier and Gordon hit the DL while Kemp is about to return. Don Mattingly has worked wonders with the players he has available.

7. Pittsburgh Pirates (46-36, Last Week: NR)
Not since the days of Barry Bonds and Bobby Bonilla have the Pirates had a winning season. Can the Pirates avoid fading in the second half?

8. Baltimore Orioles (44-37, Last Week: 5)
Baltimore lost six of their last 10 and is starting to resume their predictable fall down the AL East standings.

9. San Francisco Giants (45-38, Last Week: 6)
Fans did a good job stuffing the All-Star ballot boxes. After a brief stint in first, the Giants are now 1 1/2 back of the Dodgers

10. St. Louis Cardinals (44-39, Last Week: 10)
It's hard to ignore the 416 runs scored. I expect the Cards to be leading the Central sooner rather than later.

How's your Top 10 looking?

I had the Pirates in first place, however I put them in first every year. I love my Pirates, have supported them in good times and bad, and am loving every moment of this season. I think if the Pirates stay relatively injury free, they can get to the playoffs. However, if there are any injuries, then I believe that they will slowly fade down the stretch.
